Apparently our platform overlord looks down upon those who seek to save time by using contractions.

Interestingly enough, “can’t” is not a contraction Kinja disapproves of. I find that very fitting.

I have no idea what’s up with that, but it’s been happening to me for a few weeks at least now.

Also, whenever I upload pictures it says “StartFragment” before the picture and “EndFragment” after the picture.

Been happening to me for at least a month, also get red squiggles for ‘favourite’ and the like. EVEN WITH A UK KEYBOARD.

I’ve been getting the contraction corrections for a while as well, but haven’t had any issue with proper English words like favourite, colour, grey, etc.

Are you in the US or somewhere that spelling is more commonly used?

It’s Google chrome or Firefox, not Kinja that does spelling correction. I think.

My OS is set to UK English and keyboard, switching chrome to it may fix my issue then.

It was a moment of weakness when I realized it.

It may. And back when Chrome’s advanced settings were called “Under the Hood”, changing to UK English would change it to “Under the Bonnet”.

At least you attempt to use proper grammar, unlike other people who like to watch the lightening while there shocks dampen the bumps. Where as if your shocks are dampening, you probably just drove through a puddle, and if your watching lightening , then you’d probably need a lot of patience and an x-ray machine.

I ended up getting it to work. I guess I forgot to download the “Spell check dictionary”. Silly mistake on my part.
